Happy New year! Updates // Exciting News! 🤗
More ideas for this blog, some news in my life and whatnot!
It's a new year, and with that comes the chance to start things anew – including this blog! The start of a new year is the perfect time to re-evaluate our lives and make changes to move forward.
That's why I'm excited to be back with a fresh start and some fresh content for this newsletter! After taking a much-needed break from writing, I'm back refreshed and ready to share my thoughts and experiences with you all. I know a new year's post is long overdue, but it is never too late to share my love for you all!
The turn of the year is always a time of optimism and possibility for many of us. And what better way to start 2023 than with some exciting news?
I'm thrilled to share that I am one of four Ghanaians and one of sixty Africans to be inducted into the 2023 MultiChoice Talent Factory. #mtfclassof2023
This news comes after a year of going through stringent selection processes (because MTF means business) and the anxiety of wondering whether I would make it into this life-changing academy or not.
The MultiChoice Talent Factory is a 12-month, fully funded (in terms of flights, accommodation, a monthly stipend, laptops, etc.) education programme that develops emerging TV and film talent in Africa. This is organised by the Multichoice group.
As indicated by the academy heads, “the academy received thousands of applications across 13 countries in Africa, and after a rigorous selection process, 60 aspiring filmmakers were selected across Africa” and I am part of the lucky 0.1% 😭 selected. I have never felt more validated than I do right now. It is as if all my hard work is finally paying off!
The benefits that come with participating in this programme are really generous, and I won't be able to go into detail about all of them here. Consider it a springboard into the industry of filmmaking as well as the best way to advance your career.
For this opportunity, I had to leave my home country and move to Nigeria for a year. I know the programme can be a bit challenging and time-consuming, but do not worry. I plan to keep this newsletter as active as it has always been, with a set schedule for posting. So, come along with me as I take on the challenge of blogging from a new country and figure out how to adapt to my new environment.
A friend told me:
As you explore the unfamiliar terrain and adapt yourself to the atmosphere of your new place, one of the best things you can do is start a blog post to document your journey.
Hence, aside from the known sections of this newsletter, I will be starting a travel section where I will share my experiences of moving to a new country and all the emotions, frustrations, expectations, nice places I visit, and all the great stuff that comes along with it.
This year, I will continue the book reviews as usual, and I am looking forward to the kinds of books I read! I am just excited!
Follow my bookstagram on @books.kitchen for all my bookish updates.
Also, after a hiatus from creating content, I am excited to announce that I will be resuming vlogging on my YouTube channel! So, there is that to look forward to too. To stay up-to-date, please subscribe to my channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@boakyedalpha
That is all I have for today!
Until next time, I hope that you are excited to explore this new writing year with me and to help me grow this newsletter!
As always, I enjoy communicating with you guys.
Take care and make sure to stay safe. Live life to the fullest and don't forget to enjoy every moment. Remember: no matter how far away something may seem, there's always a way for it to come back around again.
Keep being mindful of your own and the well-being of others. You must focus on living a healthy and fulfilling life, learning from other people along the way. The world is constantly changing, but so are we as individuals. Take opportunities to become better versions of yourselves. Do have an amazing journey ahead that leads you towards success and happiness!
Goodbye for now.
